NMA is proud to have many partnerships with industry and academia across Nebraska. Our purpose with all of these partnerships is simple: Making Masonry Better. From providing educational and technical support to architects, engineers and builders to helping educate the next generation of architects and engineers to providing hands-on experiences to high school and middle school students to show them the possibilities of a career in masonry.
Partners
AIA Nebraska is the state society of the American Institute of Architects, the largest and most influential professional association for architects, interns and those directly involved in the practice of architecture. NMA partners with AIA Nebraska by providing educational and technical support to architects when designing with masonry.
The Nebraska Construction Industry Council (aka Build our Nebraska) is a collaboration between 8 construction industry associations. It’s focus is to re-brand the image of the construction industry as a career choice, providing hands-on events for students and informing parents about the possibilities of careers in construction. NMA is involved as one of the 8 associations the makes up the group and our members help with Build our Nebraska events.
CSI Nebraska is a chapter of the national association dedicated to creating standards and formats to improve construction documentation and project delivery. It is the only organization focused on fostering better communication within the project team.members create a network with the common goals of creating better specifications for a project, to sharing experience and knowledge gained, to creating a network of resource people. Many NMA members participate in CSI Nebraska and provide expertise in masonry related matters.
We’re proud of the partnership we have with the UNL College of Architecture. NMA builds on a long history of involvement…for over 40 years, the Nebraska Concrete Masonry Association has been educating students on masonry use and design and for the last 15 years has been providing scholarships to students.
Today, NMA works with students by providing them with in class lectures, product plant tours and a hands-on experience and competition, where students design and build a project using masonry.
The Durham School of Architectural Engineering and Construction is not only a place where students learn in the classroom, but also in the lab and the field. Our work with the Durham School covers all three of these areas. NMA helps to provide judges for student design projects, materials for research projects and hosts facility tours. We’re proud to offer scholarships for students who win the Masonry Design Competition and excited to work with the next generation of engineers to ensure the future of masonry is in good hands.
